About the course

The GENIAL Social Enterprise Design is part of the GENIAL Initiative, located at Glendon Campus, York University.

The GENIAL (Glendon ENtrepreneuriat et Innovation A L’international) Initiative was launched in 2018 by Dr. Angelo Dossou-Yovo, Associate Professor in Management and Entrepreneurship,  supports bilingual, inclusive entrepreneurship and innovation opportunities for students, professionals, and Ontario’s francophone communities.

This online shop showcases student-led social ventures created as part of the Social Enterprise Design course.

🏫 About the Course

This course introduces the theories/concepts of social entrepreneurship, social enterprises, social entrepreneurs, and the social entrepreneurship process. Through design thinking methods, students are introduced to the processes of opportunity recognition and blended value creation for innovative and sustainable solutions to local and global issues (i.e., poverty, health, education, climate change, food security, fair trade, etc.).
